The Fairy Winter Ball - Alex Balicki ©2006
Once the sun has set and the moon begins to glow
Fairies come out to play in the winter snow.
Some are dressed up so warm in their winter clothes
Others, running about dancing on their toes.
Look at that one cried a snowman their trying to make
Whilst others decide to ice skate upon the frozen lake.
Now as it reaches midnight the snow begins to fall
All the fairies decided to dress up and have a winter ball.
Inside the ice palace there’s the room in which they will eat
Now they are arriving in beautiful clothes each other they will greet.
All arriving on snowflakes made of soft white lace
And the beauty of the snow queens sapphire eyes sent upon her face.
She commanded they dance the women’s dresses they swirl
As the men spin them round, gently they twirl.
After the dancing it was time for tea
And what a beautiful sight to see.
A certain grand table of food, the chefs are bringing more
The fairies faces light up with all this galore.
After a grand meal the orchestra they play
The men gather the women from their seats and they dance away.
After the dancing and the queens speech
The punch is revealed and the fairies, for glasses they reach.
Clinking of glasses and a huge array of cheers
Some brush away happy, joyful tears.
Some more dances then the ball has ended
As the fairies left they said how they thought it was rather splendid.
As they go out into the frozen, icy, cold night
The fairies used their wings to take flight.
Now the ice palace is empty and the candles are all out
Its still snowing outside, and no one is about.
All the fairies are asleep with their dreams
Everything in the fairy world is as it seems.
The sun slowly begins to rise
And the stars disappear from the skies.
All the fairies are still asleep
But memories of the winter ball, forever they will keep.
